The talented star was born Troian Avery Bellisario in Los Angeles County, California on 28th October 1985. She is the eldest of two children of Deborah Pratt and Donald P. Bellisario and her younger brother, Nicholas Bellisario was born in 1991. Besides Nicholas, Troian also has many half and step-siblings through his father’s relationships.

The actress has four elder half-siblings namely, Joy Bellisario-Jenkins, Julie Bellisario-Watson, David Bellisario, and Leslie Bellisario-Ingham, from her dad’s marriage with Margaret Schaffran. Troian Bellisario’s father then tied the knot with Lynn Halpern and welcomed a son, Michael Bellisario with her. Michael and Troian seem to share a close bond.

Furthermore, after separating from Troian’s mother in 1991, her dad, Donald married Vivienne Murray. And through this marriage, Troian gained two step-brothers, Sean Murray, and Chad W. Murray. Both of them were involved in the popular police procedural show, NCIS, with Sean as an actor and Chad as a producer. Moreover, the show was created by Donald Bellisario himself.

Talking about Troian’s background, she has Italian and Serbian ancestry on her dad’s side while her mother is of Creole and African American descent. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and apparently had Lesli Linka Glatter, Ashley Olsen, and Mary-Kate Olsen as her neighbors. She reportedly felt that the institution enhanced her perfectionist tendencies, which was not healthy for her. Her father is a popular television producer known for creating shows such as Quantum Leap, NCIS, and Magnum, P.I among others. Her mom, Deborah is also a producer and also worked as an actress and writer. As a result of her parent’s career in the industry, Troian’s career started when she was only three years old. Her first work was in the 1988 movie Last Rites, written, directed, and produced by Donald Bellisario.

Two years after her acting debut, Troian guest starred in a few episodes of her dad’s show, Quantum Leap. She also had a brief appearance in other shows like JAG, Tequila and Bonetti, First Monday, and NCIS. She then started working on a few short films such as Unspoken, Intersect, A November, The Come Up, and Joyful Girl to name a few, and also appeared in the movies Consent and Billboard Dad.

Then in 2009, Troian was cast as one of the main characters, Spencer Hastings in the television adaptation of the book series, Pretty Little Liars. Her performance on the show was loved by fans and she continued to play the part till it ended in 2017. Moreover, Bellisario also played Alex Drake, Spencer’s identical twin in the final season of the show.

While they did split for a while, after Adams appeared in PLL in a few episodes, the couple got back together.

Their relationship grew stronger after the small break and they got engaged in 2014. However, they only got married two years later, on 10th December 2016 in California. The lovely couple then welcomed their first child, a little girl named Aurora Adams in 2018. Their second daughter, Elliot Rowena Adams was born in 2021.

While sharing her birth story on the podcast Katie’s Crib, the Bellisario-Adams pair revealed that their youngest one was born in the hospital parking lot, in the backseat of their car. The labor proceeding was very quick which resulted in Patrick himself delivering his daughter. Despite the unconventional birth, both mom and baby were healthy.
