Having earned degrees in Meteorology/Earth Science and Broadcast Journalism, it is no surprise that Steve Raleigh is now serving as the chief meteorologist for a television network. But when did his journey to this field start?
Well, like many individuals, Steve might have worked various jobs while he was a teenager and completed his studies. He may have also interned at companies before securing the position of meteorologist/reporter at WLBT in June 1982. He worked there for almost a year before joining WREG-TV in February 1983.
Steve Raleigh served as a meteorologist/reporter at WRET-TV till November 1985 before joining WLWT TV for the same position. He worked there till 1987 before he was hired as Chief Meteorologist by WCNC-TV. Two years later Steve left the network to join KRON-TV in the San Francisco Bay Area. He served as the chief meteorologist there for over fifteen years before leaving in July 2005.
After leaving KRON-TV, Raleigh was hired as the chief meteorologist at WCPO TV. He continues to serve in the same position even after 17 years and has made Cincinnati, Ohio his home. He seems to be enjoying working in the ABC-affiliated channel and might continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Who Is Steve Raleigh Married To?
While the popular meteorologist has remained secretive about his early life, he has not hesitated to share details about his romantic life. He is a happily married man and a loving father of four. Steve Raleigh‘s wife is Julie Leis, who now goes by Julie Raleigh, and the pair tied the knot on 5th September 1987. They got married at the Immaculata Church in Mt. Adams in front of family and friends.
In their over three decades-long marriage, Steve and Julie Raleigh have welcomed four kids. Steve Raleigh’s children are Kyle Raleigh, Chelsea Raleigh, Madison Raleigh, and Carter Raleigh. Kyle, Carter, and Chelsea are enjoying their respective lives. But sadly, Raleigh’s daughter, Madison is no more. She died by suicide at the young age of 24, on 17 January 2019 after battling addiction and mental illness for several years.
While Steve and the Raleigh family were devastated by their loss, they have since honored Madison aka Madi’s memory through their charitable ventures. They established Madi’s House, a place where people who are attempting to change their lives can find support and also have fun. The idea for this place came from Madi herself as she always wanted to have a place to hang out and have fun with people like her.
