Having first found fame through her comedy sketches on Instagram, Quinta Brunson has now become a household name. She is the creator, writer and producer of the award winning sitcom Abbott Elementary and also stars in it. Moreover for the show, she won an Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series category in 2022.

What Was Quinta Brunson’s Childhood Like?
The multi talented star was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 21, 1989. She was raised in West Philadelphia alongside her four older siblings. Her first name, Quinta means fifth in Spanish and conveys that Brunson is the youngest of five children of her parents.
Quinta Brunson’s mother is named Norma Jean Brunson and reportedly taught kindergarten. Information regarding her father is not readily available but there are reports that he is named Rick Brunson. Similarly, there are no further details about her siblings, but they must be proud of all Quinta has achieved.
As for her schooling, Brunson was a student at the Charter High School for Architecture & Design. During this time she became obsessed with comedy and nurtured her interest by taking improv class. She continued her studies at Temple University and during her sophomore year she also took classes at Second City in Chicago. But she did not complete her studies, rather Quinta chose to pursue a career in comedy.
When Did Quinta Brunson Start Her Professional Journey?
After dropping out of Temple University, Quinta Brunson moved to Los Angeles in 2013. She worked at an Apple Store there while also trying her hardest to pursue her passion in comedy. She started sharing comedy videos on her Instagram back in 2014 and particularly her The Girl Who’s Never Been on a Nice Date series went viral. This resulted in a huge rise in fanbase for Quinta.
Brunson then joined the media company BuzzFeed first as a freelancer and later as a video producer for BuzzFeed Video. There she continued with her comedic videos which mostly focused on problems experienced by people in their 20s. Quinta’s content was widely popular among the viewers and she even sold two web series with BuzzFeed Motion Pictures as a development partner.
The series, Broke and Up for Adoption too became big hits and Quinta herself was praised for her writing and acting in them.
The Philly native wrote, produced and starred in the series Quinta vs. Everything from 2017 to 2018. The series streamed on Facebook Watch. She left BuzzFeed in 2018 and starred in her first network pilot The End of the World as We Know It shortly after. However, it was not picked up by CW. Following this Brunson was set to co-produce a multicam comedy titled Quinta & Jermaine on CBS. This project too was not picked up by the network.
Despite the shortcomings, Quinta continued her work starring in projects such as iZombie, New Girl and Single Parents. She also voiced various characters in animated series Lazor Wulf and Magical Girl Friendship Squad and appeared in the sketch comedy series A Black Lady Sketch Show. This was followed by Brunson’s appearance in a recurring role in the 3rd season of Miracle Workers. She also published a book titled She Memes Well, which is a collection of essays about her career and personal life.

How Did Quinta Brunson’s Show Abbott Elementary Start?
Having got a taste of success with her early comedy career, Quinta continued to nurture and pitch ideas of her own sitcom. Then in May 2021, her single-camera pilot titled Harrity Elementary was picked up by ABC. The show got a new title, Abbott Elementary and Brunson was not only set to write and executive produce but also star in the show.
Abbott Elementary premiered in December 2021 and starred Quinta alongside other stars such as Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter, Janelle James, Tyler James Williams and Sheryl Lee Ralph. The show was a huge success with both critics and audiences praising it for a fresh approach to TV. Moreover, the mockumentary sitcom received seven Primetime Emmy Awards nominations and won three including for Quinta herself in the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series category.
The sitcom was renewed for a 22-episode second series in March 2022 and it premiered in September 2022. It is evident that Quinta Brunson has found much fame as the creator of the series. But besides Abbott Elementary, she has also gained attention for her work in Cars on the Road and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. In the latter she played Oprah Winfrey.

Who Is Quinta Brunson Married To?
Following the success of Abbott Elementary, many people wanted to find out more about the personal side of the creator of the show. Well, the talented star is happily married and has been since September 2021. But sadly, further information about the wedding day has not been revealed yet.
What we do know is that Quinta Brunson’s husband is Kevin Jay Anik and he works as a sales manager. And while he is supportive of the Abbott Elementary creator and has accompanied her to red carpet events, Kevin prefers to stay away from the spotlight. Moreover, besides the news of her engagement in July 2020, Quinta herself has not shared much regarding her relationship with Anik on her social media.
