Jennifer Jason Leigh is an actress, producer, and writer who started her acting career in the 1970s. She has worked on numerous projects such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Single White Female, Last Exit to Brooklyn, Short Cuts, Weeds, Atypical, and Possessor to name a few. She has been nominated for numerous awards for her performances in TV shows, movies as well as Broadway plays.

What Was Jennifer Jason Leigh’s Childhood Like?

The multi-talented beauty was born Jennifer Leigh Morrow in Los Angeles, California, on 5th February 1962. She was one of three children and she grew up alongside her two sisters in LA. Jennifer Jason Leigh’s parents, Vic Morrow and Barbara Turner were both involved in Hollywood, Vic as an actor while Barbara worked as a screenwriter. As a result, Leigh was immersed in the world of performing arts from an early age.

Well, Jennifer’s parents divorced when she was only two years old and later moved on with their respective lives. Her mother later married a well-known director, Reza Badiyi and through this marriage, Leigh has a half-sister named Mina Badie aka Mina Badiyi who is also an actress. Moreover, one of Jennifer Jason Leigh’s sisters, Carrie Ann Morrow was credited as a technical advisor in the movie Georgia. Sadly, Carrie passed away in 2016.

As for her studies, Leigh was enrolled at the Pacific Palisades High School. However, she dropped out of school with only six weeks till her graduation. It is unclear if she ever went back to complete her studies. But she did attend acting workshops at various centers.

When Did Jennifer Jason Leigh Start Her Career?

As aforementioned, Jennifer Jason Leigh dropped out of high school even though she was on the verge of graduation. Well, this was because she was already acting and had booked her major project, Eyes of a Stranger which was released in 1981. Even before the film, Leigh had worked on shows and movies such as The Spy Who Never Was, Beretta, Family, The Magical World of Disney, Angel City, and The Waltons. In her first few projects, she was credited as Jennifer Leigh and she later took the name Jason to honor family friend Jason Robards, an actor.

Following her performance in Eyes of a Stranger, Jennifer Jason Leigh booked significant parts in many movies and television series. Throughout the 1980s she starred in movies such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Easy Money, Flesh and Blood, Sister, Sister, and Heart of Midnight and had guest roles in several TV shows.

Then between 1990 and 1999, Jennifer managed to not only star in popular works, but also gain critical acclaim. Her performances in Last Exit to Brooklyn and Miami Blues were well received. She also caught people’s attention after working on Backdraft, Single White Female, Dolores Claiborne, Georgia, Kansas City, Washington Square, and many more.

Jennifer Jason’s dominance on the big screen continued throughout the 2000s with her playing varied characters in Road to Perdition, In the Cut, The Machinist, Childstar, Palindromes, and The Jacket to name a few. Moreover, she also starred in her then-partner, Noah Baumbach’s movies, Greenberg and Margot at the Wedding during these years.

Then in 2009, Leigh booked the part of Jill Price-Gray in the comedy-drama show, Weeds and continued to star in it till 2012. Is Jennifer Jason Leigh Married?

Talking about her personal life, Jennifer Jason Leigh has kept much of her life away from the spotlight despite her fame. But we do know that she was previously married to fellow film industry icon Noah Baumback. The former couple tied the knot in September 2005 and even welcomed a son together in 2010.

But sadly, the marriage did not have a happy ending as Jennifer filed for divorce only a few months after giving birth to their son. She asked for primary custody of the pair’s only child, with visitation for Noah, and also sought out spousal support. The divorce was reportedly finalized in 2013 but the terms of the settlement agreement were not disclosed.
