The Doctor Who star was born Jenna-Loouise COleman on 27th April 1986 in Blackpool, England, UK. She grew up alongside his older brother, Ben Coleman who works as a joiner. Jenna Coleman’s parents are Karen Coleman, who is a homemaker, and Keith Coleman, also a joiner and fitter of restaurant and bar interiors.

As for Jenna, she always knew that she wanted to act and would always be playing and telling stories. She also started being involved in theater from an early age and her love for the art continued to grow. Moreover, Coleman was named Jenna by her grandmother after the character Jenna Wade from the show Dallas.

Moreover, Coleman who attended Arnold School in Blackpool was part of a theater company. She was a member of In Yer Space and with the company, she performed in Crystal Clear at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival. Jenna even won an award for her performance. Following the completion of her high school studies, the talented actress was offered to study English at the University of York.

Jenna landed the part of Jasmine Thomas in 2005 and continued to appear on the show till 2009. She received much acclaim for her performance on the soap opera and was nominated for numerous awards.

In 2009, Jenna appeared in the BBC drama Waterloo Road as Lindsay James, and following this, she reportedly spent time in the US to audition for various roles. She made it to the final stages for a sitcom pilot in 2011 but backed out to play Annie Desmond in the four-part TV period drama, Titanic.

Coleman also made her feature film debut playing Connie in the MCU movie, Captain America: The First Avenger. She also appeared in another mini-series Room at the Top in 2012.

Following this, Jenna was cast in the long-running science fiction show on BBC, Doctor Who. She was set to play the companion of the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith after auditioning for the role in secret. Coleman was set to begin her run during the Christmas special in 2012 but made a surprise appearance in the first episode of the seventh series playing the guest character Oswin Oswald.

Subsequently, the English actress continued her journey as a series regular in the Christmas special playing Clara Oswin Oswald, barmaid, and Victorian governess. Jenna worked on the show as a regular till 2015 and also played a third version of the character named Clara Oswald.

However, she returned for an episode of Twelfth Doctor’s last episode in 2017. Besides the original series, Coleman voiced the character Clara Oswald in the video game Lego Dimensions and was also credited for Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor in 2013.

Well, after finding much fame as Clara in Doctor Who, Jenna actually left the show after being cast as Queen Victoria in the eight-part historical drama, Victoria. Her performance was well-received and the show went on to be renewed for second and third seasons with the last one airing in 2019.
