Talking about education, Damon seems to have completed his high school studies in Detroit itself. He then attended the University of Michigan and directed a musical ensemble there. Following this, Damon attended and graduated from Juilliard School where he studied drama. He also studied conducting with David Zinman and Murry Sidlin at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Furthermore, Gupton has also served as a guest conductor with various orchestras such as Cleveland Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops, Detroit Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, and Princeton Symphony Orchestra to name a few.
Additionally, Damon has also served as a guest conductor internationally for the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmonica de UNAM, and the NHK Orchestra of Tokyo. Besides his work as a conductor, Gupton has also starred in many Broadway and off-Broadway productions. A few of the stage roles include Clybourne Park, Black Bottom, Superior Donuts, Othello, The Story, An American Daughter, and Meg’s New Friend. His performances in the plays at various theaters have been applauded by critics and audiences alike.
Along with on-stage performances, Damon is also known for his on-screen presence. As per IMDb, his debut came in 1999 playing Sammy Morris in an episode of Law & Order. He followed it up with appearances in the shows, Third Watch and The Wonderful World of Disney. In 2000, Gupton started playing one of the main characters, Charles Foster in the NBC drama Deadline. He appeared in 13 episodes of the show.
