Bam Margera first found fame as a skateboarder and has since grown his career as a stunt performer, filmmaker, and television personality. He has worked on many popular projects such as Jackass and its subsequent sequels, Minghags and Haggard: The Movie, and more. He found much success from all of the work he has been involved in whether it is in sports or the entertainment industry.

Well, throughout the year Bam has showcased his physical prowess as a skateboarder, stunt performer, and more, but people have shown interest in knowing about him. Therefore in this biography, we will take a look at Margera’s life before fame, career trajectory, relationship history, and more.

Where Did Bam Margera Grow Up?

The multi-talented television personality was born Brandon Cole Margera, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, on September 28, 1979. He was given the name Bam Bam by his grandfather at the age of three and has stuck with it even in a professional capacity. He grew up alongside his older brother, Jess Margera, who is a musician.

Bam Margera’s parents are Phil Margera and April Margera and they have made appearances in a few of his projects. He reportedly has Italian, English, Welsh, and German descent. As for his education, Bam did attend high school but dropped out after his junior year. But he did receive his GED after being homeschooled by his mother.

When Did Bam Margera Start His Professional Journey?

Talking about his career, Bam first found prominence as a skateboarder and was sponsored by Toy Machine Skateboards at the beginning of his career. He was then part of the Team Element and worked for Element Skateboards. Throughout his time as a skateboarder, he was also sponsored by other brands like Adio Footwear, Destroyer Trucks, Volcom, Electric Sunglasses, Fairman’s Skate Shop, and more.

As of November 2022, Bam Margera seems to have effectively retired from professional skateboarding. He has not been on a team since 2016 but did return to be a part of Element Skateboards to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

While his skateboarding career was ongoing, he started shooting videos of himself and his friends doing it and also doing stunts. The videos later turned into the highly popular CKY video series and were released independently. The early videos featured Bam and many of his friends including Brandon DiCamillo, Chris Raab, Ryan Dunn, Brandon Novak, and Rake Yohn.

Following the success of CKY, Bam Margera was drafted into another team by Jeff Tremaine. The team eventually became members of the MTV reality TV show, Jackass. Bam and Ryan Dunn were the mainstays of the cast while other CKY members played supporting roles. He also directed and edited a few of these TV movies and short films.

Besides appearing as himself in Jackass and other projects, Bam Margera has also showcased his acting prowess. He has appeared in the movies, Grind, Minghags, Living Will, The Bates Haunting, and the show, Loiter Squad, and Horror Creek Manor. He also voiced numerous characters in video games. Moreover, Bam has also tried his hand at radio and the music industry finding moderate success in them.

Who Is Bam Margera Married To?

Talking about his love life, Bam Margera has been in numerous high-profile relationships over the years. He was in a relationship with Jenn Rivell for seven years and was also engaged for a while. Jenn even played a prominent role in several of Margera’s projects. However, their relationship ended in 2005 and Bam filed for protection from abuse against Rivell after she allegedly broke into his home.

The multi-talented television star then got engaged to his childhood friend, Melissa Rothstein aka Missy. The pair tied the knot on February 3, 2007, and the events leading up to the ceremony were chronicled on the series, Bam’s Unholy Union. They had 350 family and friends in attendance and honeymooned in Dubai. Despite this, their relationship did not work out and they divorced in November 2012.

Following his failed marriage, the Jackass star found love in Nicole Boyd. The pair tied the knot in Reykjavik, Iceland, in October 2013 and enjoyed a happy married life. Then in June 2017, it was announced that Bam Margera’s wife was pregnant with the pair’s first child. Bam’s son, Phoenix Wolf Margera’s birth was born in December 2017.

Sadly, Margera has had alcoholism and legal troubles throughout his life and sought out treatment. He reportedly underwent a full year of inpatient treatment at a Florida rehab center and upon its completion, Bam’s wife, Nikki Boyd, and their son moved to a condo on the rehab’s property in May 2022. Nikki had previously filed for the custody of Phoenix in September 2021 amid Bam’s downward spiral then. However, the pair did not separate or filed for divorce.
