He continued to appear as McGowan in The Clinic in 2009 and also played Dante Gabriel Rossetti in the BBC show, Desperate Romantics. Turner then booked the part of the vampire Mitchell in the supernatural show Being Human and starred in it till 2011. In between, he also had brief roles in Resonance and Hattie.

Following this, Aidan earned his breakout role as Kili in the highly successful The Hobbit franchise. He appeared in all three movies, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Moreover, Turner also worked on the movie adaptation of the book The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones the same name. These projects helped the Irish actor find international fame.
